The Life You Want Is on the Other Side of a Hard Conversation

What if the change you’ve been asking for is sitting on the other side of one conversation you’ve been afraid to have?

I’ve been thinking a lot about that lately because this year I’ve had some conversations that, in the past, I probably would have avoided. I would have told myself it was fine, kept carrying the pressure, and hoped things would somehow work themselves out.

But I’ve learned that sometimes it only takes a few seconds of radical courage to move your life forward

In this episode of The You Are More Podcast, I’m talking about the hard conversations we avoid, why we avoid them, and what can happen when we finally get honest enough to say, “This doesn’t work for me anymore.”

Maybe it’s a relationship. Maybe it’s something in your marriage, your work, your leadership, your family, or even a responsibility you’ve been carrying for years that no longer fits the season you’re in.

We can spend so much time dancing around what we already know because we don’t want to disappoint someone, hurt someone’s feelings, create tension, or step into uncertainty. But there comes a point where avoiding the conversation costs more than having it.

And I want you to hear this: all change can initially feel like loss.

You can feel sadness and liberation at the same time. You can be nervous and still know you’re doing the right thing. You can have no idea what the road ahead looks like and still know you cannot keep living the same way you’ve been living.

I’m also sharing the process I use when I know something needs to change: get quiet, get honest about what I really want, own my part in the situation, have the conversation, and then take one small celebratory action afterward.

Because you only get one life. You don’t want to keep pushing your future down the road because you were too afraid to say the thing that needed to be said.

If you need courage for a conversation right now, I hope this episode reminds you that God will meet you in it. Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom. Ask Him for the right words. Then take the step.

Your next season may be on the other side of that conversation.

You truly are more.
