How to Build the Life You Actually Want

Do you know where you're going?

I'm not asking what you're doing today, what's on your calendar this week, or what needs to get done before the end of the month.

I'm asking: Where are you going with your life?

Because this is what I know—we get one life. Days become weeks. Weeks become months. Months become years. And if we're not intentional, we can become so busy managing schedules, responsibilities, kids, careers, and everything happening around us that we never stop long enough to ask whether we're actually building the life we want to live.

In this episode of You Are More, I want to challenge you to start with the end in mind. What do you want the impact of your life to be? What do you want the people you love to say about you? What dreams do you want to know you gave everything you had to pursue?

Go there.

Because when you know the destination, you can finally begin creating the path that gets you there.

And then—write the vision down.

Don't give yourself vague goals like, "I want to make more money," "I want to get healthier," or "I want to impact people." Get specific. How much? How many? By when? What needs to happen every month, every week, and ultimately every day to get you there?

Because a dream becomes much more powerful when you can turn it into something you can actually do today.

This is where so many people miss it. We think our future will be created by some huge breakthrough or one incredible opportunity.

But daily habits determine your future.

Your future is being built in the ordinary things you do over and over again. And when you break your vision down into small enough commitments that you can win every day, something begins to happen—you start trusting yourself.

One win becomes another win.

Then another.

Then another.

You're stacking wins, and those wins begin creating confidence.I've experienced this in my own life. When I'm really clear about where I'm going, saying "no" to something that doesn't align with that future becomes easier. It's not because I'm depriving myself. It's because I've decided what I want more.

That's the power of clarity.

When you know where you're going, you can finally determine whether today's decisions are taking you closer to it or further away.

So here's my challenge for you: sit down and write out your vision. Get specific. Read it every day. Then ask yourself, What small commitments can I make today that move me toward that future?

Don't underestimate the boring, mundane, consistent things.

Those are often the things moving the needle the most.

Your future self will be so thankful for the discipline you're choosing today. You have one life. Honor it. Be intentional with it. Love hard. Dream big. Do big things.

And remember—you are on this earth for more.
